Birthdays in Caibrox

"In order to understand the world, one my first understand oneself." - Author Unknown.
Birthdays traditions in Caibrox vary based on the age of the one whose birthday it is. Birthdays are not considered days of celebration but are considered milestones in life where a person is introspective of what has occurred in the past year and how they can continue to grow spiritually. In Caibrox there are three milestones in maturity: The Age of Childhood, the Age of Minority, and the Age of Majority.

The Age of Childhood

From the time one is born until they reach the age of twelve all in Caibrox are considered children. Children have limited rights under the law; however, they also have limited responsibilities. Each year on a child's birthday it is tradition for all family members to gift various seeds and herbs to a child on their birthday. This symbolizes the diversity in the child's life as well as the hope that they will put down roots in the community.

The Age of Minority

Once a Caibroxian reaches the age of twelve, they are considered to have reached the Age of Minority. No longer considered a child, the adolescent now has more rights under the law as well as societal expectations. The adolescent begins to mature physically and mentally and is expected to make a choice on a career path, and to begin the education process to realize that choice. During these years’ birthday tradition is that the adolescent crafts or carve handmade gifts for their parents or caretakers, this symbolizes the gratitude and thanks the adolescent has for those who have raised him.

The Age of Majority

On the sixteenth birthday of a Caibroxian they reach the Age of Majority and are finally considered an adult under Caibroxian Law. Traditionally every year on their birthday a Caibroxian is to remain silent for the entirety of their birthday and spend the day in introspective thought and self-analysis. This symbolizes discipline and self-realization each Caibroxian is expected to have.
