Denrae School of Swords

The Denrae School of Swords is a small but famed school for bards located on a small island just off the coast in the Bhrennish city of Valdmead, encompassing the College of Valor and the College of Swords. It is known for the population of ghosts that haunt its halls, all of them spirits of warriors and fighters. The ghosts are held by the school to be harmless and even friendly, but there is much intrigue and gossip surrounding the school, sometimes passing over into scandal.

History

When the building was originally constructed in 863, it was a fencing school called the Valdmead School of Finesse. It was laid siege to in 908 by waves of sahuagin raiders, and subsequently closed. For the next few decades, rumors of the spirits of its slaughtered students and instructors shuddered through Valdmead, until 960, when an enterprising dragonborn entrepreneur began renovations on it, a move that was and is controversial. Four years later the Denrae School of Swords was dedicated in honor of the warriors who trained there before.
