Princess Tanith Matyus

O! Tanith of the gardens green
The young and starry-eyed
With laughter filled these towers high
Where untimely she died
Excerpt from "Lament for Tanith"

Princess Tanith Matyus was the second child of King Himnerith Matyus and Queen Thebe Matyus, and the younger sister of Princess Himina Matyus. She was named crown princess at the age of one, but was a sickly child, marked by her love of being taken around the palace and gardens to look at art and lights and flowers, carried by her mother, her father, or one of her nurses. She became very sick and passed away in the winter three months before her fourth birthday, and was followed by her mother two weeks later. Afterwards King Himnerith commissioned a statue of the two of them, which still stands in the royal gardens.
