CoS Session 29: A Bird in the Hand
General Summary
8/2/875
- Aldo held a funeral service in Gen. Boua’s honor
- He went on a long rambling speech about how hot Boua was and recited a really bad poem about her
- Aldo ends by promising that Bird in the Hand will avenge her death
- His western campaigns are surprisingly successful
- He’s starting to get referred to as “The Ranger” for his ability to navigate troops through the Nestorian Mtns.
- Nikolaj sneaks into Lux Avicen to catch up with Aldo before leaving town
- The two share a drink, reminisce about Roland and Catriona
- Nikolaj doesn’t try to get intel about Bird in the Hand
- It’s a shame they’re on different sides of war, but that’s how it is
- A crow from Azrael doesn’t sound too pleased about Sebastian’s death
- They send crow back saying at least Gen. Boua’s dead
- Assaj gives them next assignment: sail to Island of Charybdis
- It’s finally time we find out what Bird in the Hand really is
- It takes a week’s wagon ride to get to the fishing village that will get them into Charybdis
- It's not as technologically advanced as rest of nation
- Party looks for way to sail over to Charybdis
- Bartender says there’s some ragged-looking guy at docks who does trips
- Party heads over there, and they find a disheveled Rexfur!
- Him and Nikolaj hug, Rexfur explains how he’s been sailing for centuries
- His voyage is almost over, and he’s been in Avicenna for a few weeks
- His sailboat is looking messed up, but it’ll get them to Charybdis
- Rexfur and Nikolaj catch up, Adam’s super shocked to be in presence of a god
- Rexfur has new sense of purpose and vision for continent
- Converse with mortals more, fight Fairouz’s Coven
- But Rexfur is suspicious of Medraad
- He freezes time in middle of the sea
- He wants to meet the Man in Black, Medraad refuses
- Medraad says they’re both on same side, Rexfur harrumphs
- They make landfall on Charybdis
- There’s a small village called Scylla near the high-security factory
- Rexfur has to leave, but he promises to see Nikolaj in Gameria
- Party goes into town to gather intel
- Looks like there are locals working as janitors in the factory
- Engineers from Ravi and Kanara were shipped in to work on a special project
- Adam and Elan go to tavern to ask about ways to get inside
- Adam almost blows cover, but Elan’s bardic inspiration saves him
- The bartender gives him a kebab, suggests he applies as janitor
- Elan will go invisible to get inside
- Medraad straight-up murks an engineer to get his clothes
- It’s a bit of an ordeal hiding the body, but it’ll be hard to find now
- He has good disguise now and a keycard to get inside
- The next day the party gets inside the factory
- Nikolaj goes on side mission for Rexfur
- Meets former president of Avicenna, steals a cool gadget
- Medraad vouches for Adam, gets him inside as new janitor
- Elan is invisible for the duration of the mission
- Medraad sneaks inside as engineer named Kelvin
- He pretends to do engineer work, but he’s not convincing
- Party also sees Bird in the Hand for the first time: a massive airship
- It’s a giant vessel with plenty of space for troops and bombs
- Adam finds plans to bomb The Kraken and Gameria
- Medraad finds charts for propulsion system and layout of ship
- Elan finds office of Cpt. Gaheris, pilot of the airship
- Medraad goes to factory floor to inspect ship closer
- There are too many ship workers and guards around to sabotage it
- When he goes to restroom to re-apply disguise, he gets intercepted
- Cpt. Gaheris wants a word with him
- Elan invisibly sneaks inside office as well
