EooD Session 18: All In a Day's Downtime
General Summary
Month 13, Week 4, Year 900
Over a Gamerian-style breakfast, Rakka's Heroes discussed their plans for exploring Rel-Kadrar and uncovering more information about Hedera and the devilish conspiracy. Most importantly, the party came up with a new team name for their adventurers in the city: The Flux, an homage to the countless heroes the party had cycled through over the last half year. Seraphina immediately took a much-needed long rest after breakfast, but Father Eli headed over to the city's Temple of the Ageless One to have someone cast 'Speak With Dead' on the drow bodies recovered from the train attack into town. Taking the worg Fluffy along for the journey, Eli introduced himself to an attractive priestess named Criella who agreed to help perform the ritual for a small fee. Obscured in Criella's office by Eli's 'Silence' spell, the preacher interrogated the reanimated corpses and discovered that the drow were receiving intelligence from someone who had 'been close to the party'. The drow also appeared unaware of any deals Naberius had made with Regulated Steel, but they did repeat the 'deals within deals' line the party had heard before from devils in Rakka's wilderness. Pleased with the information gathered, Eli returned back to the Red Coals to be fitted for the New Year's Eve gala (he would have to look his best for Criella, his date to the gala). Meanwhile Cig was making his way over to the Rakkan military garrison in Rel-Kadrar to meet with the local military captain, learning about some local rumors from a bugbear porter named Thrusk. The bugbear had heard of an aasimar fitting Hedera's description showing up in town about a year ago, but she seemed to vanish after just a couple of weeks. Cig also shared intelligence with Cpt. Rudovik, organizing a strategy for a potential drow attack at the New Year's Eve gala. Rudovik expressed his frustrations over how Regulated Steel would be handling internal security while the miltary was forced to guard the outside perimeter, so Cig agreed to share some Sending Stones with Director Astara and the other attending party members to keep an open line of communication with the military. Near the end of the conversation, Rudovik made an ominous observation about how Regulated Steel's leader Sammal Najjar was the same age as Rakka's current leader when he took power in a coup. Later that afternoon Seraphina woke up to find that Cedar had dyed the halfling's hair a bright sapphire-blue color in her sleep. Pleased with the color, Seraphina added a blue bow to her outfit and headed over to Cig's room to have dinner with the rest of the group (Astara included). The party shared their discoveries with each other, Cig immediately pinning the blame on Damon Kovel when Eli mentioned how the drow had been given intelligence from a former party member. This disturbed Director Astara, especially when Cedar revealed that the fairy had helped broker a deal between a devil and Damon. Astara ordered Eli to cast 'Suggestion' on Cedar for an interrogation, but the preacher dropped concentration immediately after casting it. Nevertheless, Cedar went along with the Director's line of questioning, even when Astara pressed her for more information about Cedar's involvement in the Measure for Measure tavern fire. Cedar felt betrayed by Astara's distrust and fierce questioning, plotting ways to prank the tiefling in the future. That night Seraphina explored Rel-Kadrar to find a good deal on some magic items. She didn't like how the silver dragonborn shopkeeper condescended to her at The Moonstone, so she went to an aarakocra agent of The Handgun and fenced some of the common magic items she'd stolen from Hopezel's magic shop in Rel-Avery. Pleased with the extra boost to her income, Seraphina purchased an Ioun Stone for herself that boosted her AC by one point. Meanwhile Cig, Christopher, and Director Astara all went to a lecture at the Artificer's Guild hosted by famed dwarven inventor Skalla-Grim Chio. The dwarf was responsible for the invention for the world's first generation of warforged, and after the lecture Cig convinced him to repair Pino Chio's body. It may take some time to get the warforged into fighting shape, but at least Decarabia could have an old friend to eat silverware at her tavern. Late in the evening after lectures and magic shopping, Seraphina and Cig met up to visit Clankers together and have a meeting with a couple of kenkus...
