Zayin Sephiran

A kalashtar warlock and member of Rakka's Heroes. For years he was a bounty hunter prowling the ruins of Kassadeia, but after a series of supernatural encounters while hunting down a master thief Zayin decided to leave the Elflands and find work in a new country. Rumors of the master thief being spotted in Rakka led him to join the nation's fledgling adventurer's guild, despite its many risks.

Personal history

Zayin left home with his parent's blessing to become a bounty hunter and catch criminals. For years he traveled through the Elflands, blending in with high society to catch thieves who stole from nobles. He made a name for himself as a talented bounty hunter, only a handful of his targets ever escaping capture.
One of his most challenging targets was a master thief known as The Red Whisper, a Handgun agent who'd made a name for herself pillaging the abandoned treasure vaults of Kassadeia. Despite their rivalry, the Red Whisper one day saved Zayin's life after he was fatally stabbed in one of Kassadeia's sprawling alleyways. A different run-in with the Whisper left him lost inside the city's maze-like ruins when he came across a ring that seemed to glow with a fiery radiance. Zayin quickly discovered that the ring was connected to an efreeti who agreed to share some of his power with the young bounty hunter in return for select missions and services.
He continued the chase with the master thief, but the trail ran cold and it seemed that the Red Whisper had left Kassadeia altogether. With his efreeti's help Zayin picked up word of the Whisper being spotted in Rakka, so he boarded the nearest ship and sailed around the Strait of Myltev to join the nation's fledgling adventuring guild Rakka's Heroes. The life of an adventurer may come with risks, but he was willing to take them if it meant he could finally apprehend his longtime rival.
He joined the party in its investigation of an unusual break-in perpetrated by a pack of well-dressed gnolls. Rakka's Heroes discovered that the gnolls were part of a larger conspiracy perpetrated by an aasimar woman named Hedera and her powerful devil patron Naberious. The party hunted the gnolls down to a valley in Qilthani's countryside, and after a couple hands of poker they learned that in return for stealing some books in town they were given fancy suits and decks of playing cards by Naberious. This information proved that the conspiracy went deeper, but during the course of the poker game Zayin lost several hands and was about to lose most of his limbs per the terms of the bet.
A fight broke out when Zayin cast 'Eldritch Blast' on the gnoll's pack leader for a solid amount of damage. Mickal Irakosk and Pino Chio escaped with their lives intact, but Shad Stixs' throat was torn out by a voracious gnoll. Zayin tried hiding inside his efreeti ring to hide from the gnolls, but when the pack leader pocketed the ring Zayin was forced back into the fray. He fired off several more 'Eldritch Blasts' at the gnolls on all sides, but the sheer number of gnolls proved insurmountable for his eldritch powers. The gnoll pack leader walked up to Zayin and tore him to shreds, killing him in a matter of seconds. Half of Rakka's Heroes had been killed in less than a minute.
