General Summary
Collective Action heads to Siren's Song to speak with Samara Silverlocks. Upon arrival, they find the enigmatic lady, who seems to recognize Barnabus. Samara, though mute, invites the group into a back room to talk. She communicates using a magical pipe that creates smoke illusions to convey her thoughts.
As they converse, the party learns about Samara's background. They discover that she possesses a magical portrait that sings, potentially the source of the mysterious singing Melly had heard at night. Samara mentions a few young bards who have gone missing but dismisses it as common in a bustling place like Kaiz where people frequently come and go. Apart from an illusion disguising her appearance, Samara appears innocent, prompting the party to continue their investigation elsewhere in town.
Roan, Groban, and Barnabus make their way to Flautist's Flourish, where they meet a young Half-Elf couple. They gather information about the new influencers emerging in Kaiz and identify the main funders behind them. However, there are no reports of people disappearing.
Meanwhile, the rest of the group heads to The Kaiz Playhouse. On their way, they encounter an influencer named Thorn Silvergleam, who is marketing a magical cloak that enhances one's voice and creates illusory backdrops. They follow Thorn to the Kaiz School of Music and learn from a Gnome receptionist that Thorn is friends with the headmaster, Misstress Nyxara. From there, they proceed to The Gilded Harp and purchase a cloak. Celine's attempt to convince the kitchen staff that she belongs there is unsuccessful.
At the playhouse, Blair secures a box for the evening's performance of "Eclipsed Hearts," the latest play by Madame Vespara. The adventurers regroup at Wild Things Café, only to find it empty, with Melly having stepped out. Celine sneaks in and snoops around, finding nothing out of the ordinary. She leaves quickly when Hootcules alerts the party to Melly's return.
They watch as Melly reenters the building and hobbles upstairs to retrieve an intriguing dagger. The group knocks on the door, and Melly lets them in to discuss their mission. Disheartened by the party's failure to remove Samara, Melly becomes upset and asks them to leave. The group reassures her that they haven't given up on the investigation yet. Melly, though lamenting that she might have been wrong about Samara, insists that something is not right in Kaiz.
With the café reopened, the group prepares for their evening of entertainment, ready to enjoy the performance while remaining vigilant for any further clues.
