Town of Cheylo

Originally a town like every other. A calm river nearby, a mountainrange covering the north and east side mined for its ores, doubling as a natural defense against raiders and farms around the outer city walls. While barely being noteworthy before The Ascent, this city would go one to become one of the most visited floating islands Ekkirah would ever see.   The reason was the church in the towns center, a place of worship to those who seeked to repent for their sins. Worshipping Zollu, god of forgiveness. The scriptures describe him as a being a valiant fighter, who would only fight if it was absolutely necessary. Even then, only until his opponent surrendered, upon showing them mercy and providing them with any aid they needed after their battle. This god condems any acts of vengeance, deeming them a sin.   Thus, the followers who felt like they acted out of lust for revenge, would come, pray and repent their sins.   After the ascent, it was High Priestess Peti Dayvu, who reinterpreted the scriptures, deeming that not only would Zollu condemn vengeance, he would condemn unneccessary violence entirely. This interpretation drastically changed the way Cheylo was rebuilt. Using the taverns are barracks, the watchtowers as giant fountains and the training grounds as gardens to turn the city into a peaceful place for recreation.   This settlement now flourishes, drawing in weary travelers from all of Ekkirah. While refusing to have their own guards, they are forced to hire mercenaries, because while it is meant to be a non violent area, there are those who will try to steal valuables from the island.   Overall, this was one of the only settlments who achieved greater prosperity after the incident that shook the world and ripped and tore landmasses apart, destroyed buildings and cost millions of souls their lives.
