After the last day of the dark times of
the Tearfall are passed, the community gathers together for the Community Tear's Dyring - sometimes called the Drypyre - to reinforce their spirit of community and overcome the dark mood and emotions from the days before. It is also a ritual to protect from lasting negative influences caused by the Tearfall.
Wake Up Call
People that are heavily afflicted by the
Tearfall Mood or even have contracted the
Tearfall Dread often try to avoid the ritual. Some villages have a wake up call where they go from house to house to fetch the inhabitants. People still refusing are often met with suspicion the upcoming months.
Silent awakening
During the early morning, the community gathers in a central place or a local shrine.
Here, talk about the good they have in life and how they appreciate each other.
A priest of Apac or Sabes will then guide the community into vows of helping the community in the next years.
Cleaning Up
The second half of the day will be a preparation of the festivities in the evening. Every member of the community will eithe rgather wood, especially
Zecotwigs and build a pyre and in cases of larger towns an effigy of the
Zecodspawn that will have plagued the lands the last days.
Other will help prepare food with an emphasize on sweet meals with canned fruits.
Lighting up the Darkness
The pyre will be started before sundown and the fire will burn all night.
The community will once again join together and share the meals and share their dreams and hopes for the upcoming year.
During the pyre usually a much more relieved and festive atmosphere will spread through the crowd.
Each person will throw a Zecotwig in the fire, releasing its corruption and whish upon their own goals for the next year.
Unfortunately, during this hour it is usually a small number of people that will quietly leave the community. They are heavily afflicted by the Tearfall Dread and will no longer feel comfortable to share the community with the people.
Persons that are found to have left the next morning are rarely talked about publicly. Many families mourn them quietly as a lost child.
Start of the Inquisition
In Bealuki, the day of the Drypyre is also when the church and
Manedir's Council will call upon a new cleansing of the corruption - it will send out a new inquisition of
Sabesian Steelknights throughout the lands.
