Thorned Spiral

Zeanna was not careful enough when she reached for the pastrie offered to her - immediately she felt the amulet slip out of her shirt. A quick grasp trying to hide the amulet was too slow - the Throned Spiral hanging around her neck was clearly visible to the old woman in front of her.   Too bad, she thought when she stepped closer, looking on the face of horror in front of her. There must not be any witnesses.
The Thorned Spiral is a common symbol and an often seen amulet worn by Zecod's worshippers. It is often made from a corrupted Zecotwig or fashioned from wood in the form of a six armed spiral with thorns.   During the Dark Tearfall, many plants will be twisted by the energy of the fallen comets. Many twigs will be formed into a thorned spiral, and he follower's of Zecod collect them in the quiet of the night.   At the Community Tear's Drying after the Tearfall, the people usually try to find and burn all Throned Spirals. When doing so, the release magic into the air, which they presumably have sucked in before.   The followers of Zecod feel compelled to wear this symbol and claim this enables them to channel their fallen god's unnatural magic. In fact, wearing a Thorned spiral does distort the flow of magical energy around unskilled cultists. This makes it easier for Sabesian Steelknights to identify their foes. Anybody wearing the Thorned Spiral at their own decision will be immedately incarcerated for a quick and harsh trial, if the culprit is lucky.     Some followers of Zecod even tattoo the Thorned spiral on their skin. This does however give the Sabesian Steelknights the opportunity, to really follow the commandment "burn the symbol wherever you find it" by the spirit of the letter.
