When the Posioned Tears Fall Down

"When the Poisoned Tears Fall Down" is a well-known myth about the origin of the Dark Tearfall and the very first occurence of these dark days.

After the gods defeated and banished the dark god Zecod, imprisoning him in a comet that would carry him far away from the realm of the humans, the defeated god cried out in anger and swore to bring pain and descruction to their precios world, whenever he coul get close enough. So strong was his anger, with the last of his strength he was able to push the meteor, so it would never fully leave the world of the mortals, but would return after a while.
And so it came that Zecod's comet returned over the lands. But Zecod found he was unable to free himself and powerless to destroy the lands he saw below. So big was his fury, he started to weap tears of anger. The tears started falling out of the sky and corrupted the lands below and every creature on it.
From the blackened ground rose his spawn, deformed monsters, as dark as he was himself, in their eyes glowing the spark of chaos. And Zecod spoke to them "My children, my spwans of hatred. Go destroy the lands in my name. But take all the power you can find, for I desire to be free again."
And his creatures spread out to the lands and terrorized the people. The people cried out to the gods for help, while the tears of darkness kept falling on to the lands.
Finally, it was the goddess Sabes herself, who came down to bind the creatures, after she heard the laments of the people.
She put a stop to the tearfall and send Zecod's comet away once more. And she chased Zecods span ino the sea, where they could no longe rgather power for their master.
Yet still Zecod gained power in these days. Sabes feared, that Zecod would return again and so she spoke to the people.
"When you see the dark tearfall come again, stay inside. Close yourself off from the danger and close your heart from the dark thoughts that will plague you. For we will promise you, the tearfall will not last forever.
But when the last tear has fallen, seek out the signs of Zecods corruption. Take them and burn them, so the hold of evil will be cast off the lands."
WIth these words Sabes left the people and from this day on, they will practice the Community Tear's Drying whenver the next tearfall ended. And Sabes went to the capitol and founded the Sabesian Steelknights, to be her force whenever evil will return.
And so it came to be that Zecod will occasionally return to the world. Everytime he does, he brings evil and sadness with him.
But with the protection of the gods, he can never stay for long. He can only watch in anger, how the world flourihses, unable to destroy it. Everytime he brought his devastation, the poeple will come together, stronger and more united than before. And so it shall be until the end of days.
