Jurassic Sheep

We received a letter from Hadlow the sheep farmer in Raven's Respite who had reported seeing strange creatures. So I rallied a crew of brave adventurers to come investigate. The adventurers who travelled with me were Phallon the Aarakocra druid, Varian the Half-Elf wizard, Ideal the Tiefling bard-wizard, Kayla the Tiefling bard-warlock, Tathar. the Firbolg Cleric, and a human variant fighter-sorcerer known only as "The Girl".

Upon arriving at the village we spotted two large birds that were eating what looked like a human corpse. Using their quick thinking, Phallon was able to charm one of the birds and lure it away from us before it attacked. We then bravely fought the other bird before being ambushed by a pack of what seemed like velociraptors! Hadlow and his mighty sheep rogue Babe 4 assisted us and we took down the creatures! Phallon stayed outside befriending the bird while the rest of the party talked to Hadlow. Hadlow told us that he saw creatures coming from the wilderness out further east and from the mines, as well as a strange glowing light at night coming from the wilderness.

The party then travelled out to the wilderness where Hadlow said he saw the light, accompanied by Babe 4. THere they found two more of the large birds, seemingly guarding the glowing light. Once again the party swiftly dealt with the birds.

The party decided to investigate the glowing light and it turned out to be a gateway or portal of some kind. After we all went through it began flickering and closed behind us. Looking at our surroundings in the direction of what would have been the village there was nothing but desert. In the distance there were all kinds of strange creatures. It turns out the portal had taken us through time! Over in the distance the party spotted a camp. Over at this camp was an even bigger bird and a man in a strange cloak working on some kind of rune. It turns out he was controlling the birds and dinosaurs through some weird rune magic. Luckily the party managed to easily kill him. Unluckily for us, even though the bird wasn't being controlled it was still really angry! So the party had to kill it. Taking a look at the runes the party discovered that the runes were in a very ancient primordial language, with the word control. After taking some strange magic items the man had at his camp, Tathar was able to use the man's staff to help the party navigate their way through the wilderness and open a portal out through a cave and back to the village. Phallon closed up the cave with a rockslide to and the party told Hadlow about what happened. He rewarded the party with gold and Babe 4 was returned to him.

PS. This portal was really weird, I might keep an eye out for more in case they become a problem for the guild!
