Lake Crystalmere

Lake Crystalmere has a habit of befudling visitors for it appears to join two rivers that flow uphill. In truth the lake's outlets flow underground around Mt Pizol to feed the Tanquary catchment. Despite its name the lake is not typically clear unless something unhealthy kills off the plant life, which tends to happen during or after eruptions from Mt Echplek or Pizol.

The area is remote, but is rich in natural resources. Notable settlements on the coast include Matoke. Local industries include gum harvesting (resin), mountain herbs and goat herding. Mining was popular in the area until Guildfall.

Farmers have to deal with sporadic attacks from wyvern and small dragons from above and Ankheg or similar tunnellers from below, and their most popular weapon is the Spear-bow, basically a large crossbow with a bayonet.

The town of Matoke is being fortified against attack from underground, in response to events in Tenston.
