Requirements
The oldest woman in a powerful elven family.
Appointment
Sometimes this title can be abdicated to a daughter or niece if a matriarch wishes, however it is generally held until death with the next oldest woman taking the title.
Benefits
Matriarchs are the most powerful citizens on an individual level and are often considered the wisest among elves.
Grounds for Removal/Dismissal
A matriarch can be dismissed if they bring dishonor to the family.
