The Great Seal

As I write this I occassionally look up at The Great Seal. It is a constant reminder of humanity's horrifying past, and ensures we remember who keeps us safe. However, it has began to weaken in the past year, and I worry for our future. What will happen when the monsters return and launch their attacks once again? Humanity is not prepared for such an event, and we will surely fall.

History

In the year 1057 on the 24th day of the 10th month, The Lords of Night created The Great Seal from the blood of three-fourths of humanity. This was accomplished through a strange ritual whose name has yet to be discovered. While this created a protective barrier between Eldcolary and other worlds, it also removed humanity's connection with the Glauxian Weave.

Since then The Great Seal has stood strong, protecting humanity for 2000 years before finally beginning to weaken in the year 3050 of The Endless Night. Small tears and rips have formed throughout The Great Seal allowing monsters to re-enter Eldcolary and plague humanity once again.

Appearance

The Great Seal takes on the appearance of a large thick dome compromised entirely of blood. It has a deep-red color that causes all light filtered through it to take on a red tint, cause Eldcolary to constantly have a red hue to everything. Throughout the day the blood swirls about forming various patterns and symbols.
