The Lords of Night

Not much is known about The Lords of Night, but everything that I know can be found below. They are a great and powerful group of beings, and their true intentions are still unknown. Tread with caution dear adventurer and stay safe.

History

In the year 1057, when humanity was in the middle of the Great Wailing, The Lords of Night appeared before the heads of the various human factions. They promised that they could save humanity from the monsters that were destroying us, and having no other hopes, humanity accepted their aid.

Three weeks after making their existence known, The Lords of Night took the faction leaders up on time of what is now known as Redtop Mountain. They said they would perform a ritual to seal Eldcolary off from all others, keeping humanity safe, but what they did not mention was it would come at a great cost.

As their ritual progressed the bodies of the faction leaders and their followers began to wither as their blood was removed and added to a growing dark red orb. Surrounded by the fallen bodies, The Lords of the Night sent it hurtling towards the heavens, and at that moment the blood of millions begin to leech from their bodies.

That blood formed a dark red seal that encircled Eldcolary, sealing it off from all other worlds. Humanity was distraught though, for three-fourths of all humans laid dead on the ground, their faces twisted in screaming agony. It would not be till 84 years later that the survivors would finally dispose of the last corpse.

After completing the event that became known as Nox Sanguinis, or the Night of Blood, The Lords of Night gathered the survivors together into one great city, enslaving all of humanity and creating a dystopian nightmare. They have not been seen since the Year 1024 of the Endless Night, though their taskmasters still issue out tasks to humanity.

Interests and Goals

Not much is known of the interests or goals of the Lords of Night. It has been theorized that they may be eldritch horrors from another world who after destroying their own, found Eldcolary. There are also some who believe that they are benevelont gods who must be worshipped for they saved us from the monsters. These fanatics have formed multiple cults throughout the major cities of Eldcolary and pose great danger to any who run afoul of them.
