The Traskan Land Bridge
"Long ago there was a great bridge here made from the very earth upon which you stand. A conclave of heroic wizards and sorcerers came together shortly after the dawn of the Age of Peace. They used their powerful magics to destroy the bridge to The Midden, known then as Traska. If you look closely, you can still see evidence of the monstrous horde crossing from that accursed place. A misshapen tooth here, a twisted and gnarled set of bones there. And possibly more unsettling, when the wind blows just right across the waters...you can smell the scent of rot and decay coming from the South." - Gilgared Vespar; Historian and Chronicler
Geography
The Southeastern coast of Auridon is a series of wide green fields, speckled with small hills that break the otherwise flat horizon. This unbroken green terminates suddenly at a precipice that drops directly into the rocky seas below. Though the land bridge was destroyed, remnants still remain from the original landmass in the form of tall pillars of bare rock jutting from the rolling waves.
A roiling black sea spans the gap between Auridon and The Midden, book-ended by matching sets of sheer cliffs on both coasts. Though none that have ventured to The Midden have returned, the appearance of the limestone wall that forms the Northern coast of old Traska is well known. Many adventurous sailors and foolhardy captains have found their way to these seas, looking for some trace of glory or a small shred of the fabled beasts rumored to have been banished beneath the waves.
