The Yawning Abyss
"Far to the north there is a crack in the earth below the waves. It is so deep no light can penetrate it. It is protected by magic that squeezes the very life from your body the deeper you go. And echoing from it's walls is the siren song; whispers of promises of power and demands to be freed."
Geography
The Yawning Abyss is a trench located off of The Anchor. It spans twenty miles long with the widest point being two miles wide. The scar in the sea bed is surrounded on all sides by sand. Fish avoid swimming near it, even in dire circumstances. The surfaces of the walls leading down into the trench are smooth and bumpy, sometimes narrowing the passage further down. Diving this scar in the sea bed is made more difficult by the water pressure growing more intense as you dive. The full depth of the Abyss is unknown, but suspected to go for miles.
At the bottom, the scar opens up into a cave system where Abyss Dragons live.
Localized Phenomena
To those sensative, the sounds of Fir'Tan's demands to be released from his stony prison echo throughout the trench.
Fauna & Flora
Little lives within the trench. Of note, small organisms and flat fish.
History
The trench opened when the world broke apart from Fir'Tan's crimes. The trench specifically seemed as if it opened up to swallow the petrified form of the dragon and his island. It has remained undisturbed for millenia.
