Aquamarine

A well-known and now retired member of The Golden Griffon Adventuring Company. She was a hardworking, blunt and well meaning woman who was known for her incredible strength. Shortly after acquiring the rank of Veteran within the guild she chose to retire in the hopes of tracking down the family she lost as a young child.

Personal History

Aquamarine was born in Aldshore to her mother Alaryan Pumanath and her father Erinus Montenthol under the name Aryana, or Arya for short. With both her parents hailing from the lands of Thun'Zol they wanted to name their child after something they did not get to experience much of in their homeland, but something that was prominent in their lives today. So they named her after an abbreviation of the word "Air". The first few months of Aria's life there was simple, her family was not wealthy, but they were happy and worked hard to fit in with human society.   Though, the happiness was not to last as an organization known as The Syndicate launched a full blown attack on the city of Aldshore. Their goal was to break into the bank vault located in the town, which was said to contain a great bit of wealth even if it was not the full wealth of the bank. Though, as a big portion of the Syndicate's income comes from slave trade, a lot of the hostages taken from the event were brought back to Syndicate headquarters to be sold.   The raid began when Aria was walking through the city with her mother, and unfortunately they were both among the hostages. Her mother, refusing to see herself and her child be taken by these criminals, put her necklace around Aria's neck and prepared to defend her child even if it would cost her her life. The necklace was a gift from her husband, a simple Aquamarine necklace which they both had matching copies of. It was meant to serve as proof of their love, as they could not afford wedding rings.   Alaryan lost her life defending her daughter, who ended up being taken by The Syndicate, whom would later sell her to their contacts within Xah'lanir.   FAMILY TREE NOT AVAILABLE

Life as a Slave

After Aquamarine was sold as a slave in Xah'lanir, she found herself as a possession belonging to a Dark Elven woman named Nathraerth Sha’ieth. She was a prestigious woman who owned a great deal of strong slaves that were trained to fight in Hun'tyl's Colosseum. If they won they were rewarded, and Nathraerth became richer. If they lost, they would face the abusive consequences.   Named after the Aquamarine necklace she had with her from before her days as a slave, Aquamarine was raised to be a gladiatorial fighter alongside many others. She would fight alongside some of them in more dangerous fights, and against them in some others. There were even times when she was forced to end the lives of those she considered comrades in arms.   Each day was a struggle to survive, filled with constant pressure to please her master with her fighting ability or a fight to survive in the arena. Terrible monsters and other fighters, she was forced to face it all. There was no end in sight, as the branding she carried forced her to obey her masters orders as well as prevented her from taking her own life. She constantly asked herself if this was all her life was to be, if she would never be allowed to have her vengeance or freedom.   The cycle or fighting and death continued until one fateful day when a humongous Purple Worm burst through the walls of Ill' Marathir, tearing through the many districts and taking countless lives. The entire city was forced into chaos and Aquamarine took this chance to flee the grasp of her master alongside a handful of other slaves. They made their way through the everchanging maze-like tunnels of the Underdark only to find terrifying monsters and starvation. One by one the slaves died to various sources such as starvation, dehydration, poisonous plants or gasses, monsters, carnivorous plants. Everyday contained a new hell scape until only Aquamarine remained.   She wandered on her own until she collapsed, unable to move from the wounds on her body as well as the dehydration and the starvation. While on the brink of death she was saved by a wizard from the overworld by the name of Kaia Skyslayer. For the first time since she was enslaved she felt the warmth of the sun and allowed to be a part of civilization as a citizen and not as a slave. Kaia taught her what she needed to know about civilization and Elladonia, and sent her to The Golden Griffon Adventuring Company in her hometown Dameril so that she could earn her own living doing something she already knew how to do. Except this time she was free.   She remained in Dameril for close to a year, working diligently for The Golden Griffon until she felt more at peace with her past and her future. The one thing that was missing to her, was knowledge of where she came from, as well as to undo the slave branding that was done upon her by the Drow. A junior member of the guild named Aurora had informed her that if the slave branding was not undone and she encountered her old master once again, she would still be forced to obey her old masters commands.   As such, Aquamarine left the companions she had made in Dameril and headed out into the world in search of her heritage and someone who could undo the branding.
