The Siege of Blackburn

The first major battle occurred at the siege of Blackburn. A hastily assembled army of about 2000 men, mostly militia, approached the The Elladonian Army besieging Blackburn. The Elladonians were ready. A swift battle followed, a charge of the Elladonian cavalry into the left flank of the Therian militia resulted in the latter being routed. There were minimal casualties on either side.
The Duke of Ruarden, having not agreed with much of Therian policy surrounding mages and with little will to fight, surrendered the castle shortly thereafter. Part of the agreement was that his son was to be made a ward of Charles Stormchaser, to be raised under his care until such a time would come where he could assume the position as Duke of Ruarden himself.
