YP - Session 3
General Summary
After tracking a golden stag through the forest in The Wildes the party had discovered an ancient looking tome in a subterranean chamber of a ruined temple. Dathar had loosely translated the title of the tome as The Book of Woe. Just minutes after its discovery, a scouting party had arrived. The group had decided to engage the scouts, and was able to slay them all. Kastor on the behest of the Lt, pursued two of the fleeing scouts all the way to the edge of a forest clearing where a war band intent on laying siege to Genesis Keep was discovered. Aside from that from within the camp there was a mysterious figure who was trying to find the Book of Woe to assist with bypassing the keep.
Upon regrouping, while still amidst the speech, the figure had sensed the presence of the Book of Woe to which the party immediately fled, but not before being chased by dire wolves who trailed the party throughout the forest. Maximus and Lt. Purrham went ahead as they were in possession of the tome, while the other three lagged behind, but managed to stave off the pursuers. Upon reaching the familiar frozen lake where the hunt had began, Maximus and the Lt, had run into what appeared to be vanguard of 15 or so assailants led by a fierce looking Frost Giant. As stealthily as possible the party was able to skirt around undetected and returned back to Genesis Keep. Back safely, Maximus had surrendered the tome to Captain Dorn as well as provide the warning of an impending attack. Laying down for much needed rest Bushrod and Maximus received their 4hrs, but awoke to the sounds of fighting in the keep. Deciding to investigate the two Elves had walked out onto a surprise attack by the Vanguard on the keeping seemingly bypassing the walls by climbing the flanking mountains to spring the attack, while the frost giant distracted at the gate. Joining the fray Maximus and Bushrod made their way to the battlements to assist.
