Dreamwalking

Never trust a Fey with anything other than the knowledge that they will twist their words to their own benefit and damned be he who struck the contract with them. To think one could put one over on the Fey, to but have a taste of their power by anything other than a sacrifice of their own identity is not but folly.

Transmission & Vectors

By consuming the blood of a Fey in a concentrated dose, one is very likely to enter a comatose state where they will have an out of body experience, their eyes observing that similar to that of a Fey. The only way to Dreamwalk is to consume the blood of fey in some way, shape, or form. After consumption, the consumer has about a five to ten minute window before they quickly lose motor functions and their bodies collapse, unable to support their own weight. Once the consumed blood has been acclimated to the bloodstream, there is no way to halt the process or interrupt. The blood must be circulated by the body in order for the effects to end.

Symptoms

Externally, it appears as if the affected suddenly faints and collapses. Their limbs become limp, their breathing becomes slow, and skin begins to pale and swell in some cases as the body begins to react and enter emergency recovery procedures. Their eyes will roll back in their skull, their mouth will become dry and their heartbeat slows to a fourth of it's normal pace. Internally, after the initial onset of the faint, the body enters a comatose state, similar to that of being knocked out, including a slight sting of a headache. Concerning the affected senses, each sense is affected differently. The affected's sense of smell is cut back almost entirely; they cannot smell anything save what they can perceive. Their sense of hearing is muffled between what is happening in the physical world, while the dream seems to take a priority in terms of audio receptor in the affected. Their sense of touch is frazzled beyond quick comprehension. Depending on factors yet unknown, touch receptors could be flip-flopped, heightened, or dulled, but there is no telling how they will react from case to case. Their sense of sight is what is the strangest of all. As well as their motor functions. Outwardly, to the rest of the world, the affected collapsed, however, internally, the affected watched their body collapse, while they yet stand. All around them the world is said to shift and warp in strange ways, some more whimsical, while others verge on the disturbing and incomprehensible. For the duration of the Dreamwalk, the affected is tethered to their unconscious body by an invisible strand of some kind while they can walk about in a sort of metaphysical space and observe, interact, and tamper with mental thought and even dreams, which are said to be depicted as sort of blurry cloud-like forms in this metaphysical space.

Treatment

No treatment has been found, however many have been attempted. The most tumultuous and most highly undocumented treatment is blood letting. In this state, the affected's blood becomes more gelatinous and thick. When it does this, on account of the consumption, the blood actually coagulates togther so when blood is let, the quantity is actually far greater than one might think. In the past when blood letting has been performed, patients have died after only a pint or so of their blood being removed.

Prognosis

Though some may be able to stave off the effects of the blood for a short time, or perhaps, in the rarest of cases, entirely, it is clear that the consumption of the Fey blood has adverse affects on the body of non-fey creatures. The lack of understanding of Fey Anatomy and Physiology is a large factor that plays into this truth. Fey blood is alien to non-Fey blooded folk, and though a similar to almost identical effect occurs when consumed, there is little research or breakthroughs therein to truly discern a cause or reason as to why the body reacts in this way.

Sequela

Affected describe the Dreamwalks as both horrifying as well as enlightening, sometimes, depending on the person. The sensation is said to be addicting in many ways.
