Fey Raal
Demographics
Fey Raal is a city of scholarly study and research, leading the population to reflect this aeriodite lifestyle in their everyday. The majority of the population is Eladrain, as is the majority of the folk referring to themselves as the Merrinese. The Eladrain are dispersed about the city, mostly keeping to the more central living areas or those along the periphery.
The minority of the Fey Raal population is made up of Elves, Half elves, Humans, some Gnomes, and Halfings, and even fewer Dragon Kin or Outsider folk. These percentages of populous represent the frequent visitors to the city in order to conduct research and engage in scholarly study of the Arcane, as well as investigate the mysteries of the Fey Wilds just beyond the walls.
Stuck in between the Eladrain and the Minority folk are the Forest folk, members of those peoples who resemble that of natural forest creatures, sometimes called Demi-humans. These folk reside in large quantities due to the natural environment around them, as well as their innate affinity to the natural magics being studied in Fey Raal.
Government
Fey Raal is a city state under the rule of Ellon Wen, the Capital of Merridain. As a city primarily dedicated to the study of the Arcane, it does not have it's own grand style governing system. It is rather plain and straight forward. An elected mayor sits with a council of district chairmen do delegate and deliberate matters of state importance. From there, each Council Chairman is obligate to enforce the laws ratified by the council.
Where things become a bit confusing in terms of the governing of the city comes when looking at the numerous campuses around the city for magical study. Fey Raal has no less than a dozen magical institutes and each President of the universities have near autonomy within the borders of their respective campuses. The legislation from the council does not impede their own within the campus.
Infrastructure
Fey Raal's burrows, or neighborhoods are built to be self sustaining and supportive to their respective University adjacent to or within their district lines. Each burrow within Fey Raal has their own water purification system, some more sophisticated than others. Some burrows generate power by mens of a more industrial form, such as water wheels, or windmills, while others rely on directed flows of Arcane power through the connected roots of the Fey Wilds trees that populate the city.
The city utilizes stone walkways, often times elevated off the ground for foot traffic and transportation of the citizenry. Below, there are intricate sewer systems to promote hygene within the city itself. Waste is transported via low aqueducts to designated areas outside of the city.
Assets
Fey Raal's most notable asset is their Fey magic infused spell focuses and bows, called Feywood Bows. The Feywood Bows are well known and well beloved by hunters of the Fey Wilds, especially those who venture into the Aeintari Wilds regularly. These bows are hewn from the Feywood trees and fashioned into delicately crafted hafts that never snap or lose tension. The bows are also said to embue the arrows strung upon them with various magical properties.
Guilds and Factions
Since each burrow and each University in Fey Raal observes their own level of autonomy, each has their own collection of organizations to assist and operate sects of industrial life, as well as the service industry. Most Universities have their own police force, or disaster response team. The burrows are slightly more connected, sharing a singular police force and disaster response team, but divided by burrow branches within each area.
The Court of Scholarly inquiry is world renown. It is a court that serves as the universal through point and connective and communicative tissue between the Universities of Fey Raal.
Architecture
Fey Raal is not a large and expansive city, but what it lacks in size, it makes up for in hieght. Fey Raal is the tallest of the four cities of Merridain, it's towers reaching high above the tangles trees of the Wilds outside it's walls. The Fey Towers reflect the visage of the Wilds surrounding it, but are clearly made of wood and stonework. Elsewhere in the city, the similar Fey style architechture can be found supporting high rise walkways and aqueducts.
