The Charter Tower

In the Third Era, the Age of Charter Magic, many advancements were achieved by the people of Ellecrid, through the use of the strange, but incredible form of magic craft, Charter Magic. With almost limitless power at their fingertips, the practitioners and researchers pushed the bounds of progress, taking the first steps into the stars beyond the Breadth of Ellecrid. The crown jewel of this achievement was the Charter Tower, a structure that would float just beyond the Breadth in orbit like the moon and serve as the greatest achievement of the age. Gods only know what happened to the forsaken folk that dwelt within the tower when the Ley Lines were cut off.

Geography

Not much is publicly known about the Twoer on Ellecrid, especially in the Fifth Era. For the most part, any and all record of the project and it's parts is kept within the records and archives of the age surviving within the Grand Archives at Al Ledra, capital of the Elven Imperium. For whatever reasons, the royal family, the senate, nor the Archivists have ever revealed what knowledge thy have of the project to the public. Some say it is because the Tower is unreachable now. Others say it is because the Tower never existed. The truly conspiratorial say that the Imperium has never lost contact with the Tower and are using it to plot some nefarious scheme. Whatever the reasoning, the Tower remains out of reach and all that remains are the records and blueprints, which detail much of the Tower's layout. From the records, the tower is a floating, orbital colony center, with a number of sections dedicated to domestic comforts and lodging. These areas keep closer to the internal lower floors, while surrounding floors seems to be dedicated to more labor based work, whether that be hard labor or otherwise. The upper floors of the Tower begin to diversify the catalog; there is labeled a Forum, an Observatory, Military platforms, as well as a docking bay for a ship able to ferry supplies from Ellecrid to the Tower itself. The most interesting addition, which the records carries the greatest amount of content over is the Conservatory and Green houses. It was clear that a great deal of attention was given to these places, which leads scholars to believe that the Twoer was experimenting with growing plant and animal life on it, as well as beginning to see how they could further push the bounds of these discoveries.

History

According to record, the Tower was commissioned by the late Emperor Feinrieal VII, and was built by the architect Ecthedian in the midst of the Third Era. Building was quickly done and after only three years of construction within the realms of the Imperium, under careful and vigilent watch so as not to alert the rest of the world.

Tourism

Since the Severing of the Ley Lines, there has been no contact or communication between Ellecrid and the Tower, nor has anyone been able to go up and see what has become of the place. To be frank, the Tower has past mostly into myth and legend, as many things from the Age of Charter Magic has, and even from myth it has faded from most scholarly, or historically recorded documents. For the few who know of it's existence and the fewer still that believe it truly does lie just beyond the Breadth, they have never seen it in person.
