5-17-24 Frost Giants and Desperate Situations OR, Facing defeat and returning Heroes.
General Summary
After enjoying sandwiches made by Tiempo AA finally made their way back into town so Chronos could stop by the Smelted Breath and purchase some shiny new plate armor from Strondu. AA also stopped by the Travelers Band to look at the various jewels avilable. At the Travler's band several members of AA attempted to pet the owner's pet fox, Hilo who informed Chronos that they don't really liked to be pet. During their visit Freya had her ring of water walking appraised by Bellelinn who said it was of fine quality and cold fetch a good price. Freya asked where one might purchase more rings of similar abilities and Bellelinn said this was the first of it's kind she had encountered but did not know where one would get more. While Chronos was distracted Flimp was able to etch into the back of their brand new plate armour, "Flimp was here."
After leaving the Traveler's Band AA went to the Temple of Madarr where they enountered a young member of The Collective of Mystics who took residence at the temple, Bellina. Bellina informed them they had a few tasks for hire, cleaning out their mausoliem, inestigating and finding a group of missing sailors, and on a personal note, finding out if Bellina's friend Tiempo was safe since she had not been back to temple since taking a job with Irnas of the Anchored Pillar. Chronos immediately tells Bellina that they have recently seen Tiempo, that Tiempo is their sister, and that Tiempo is fine. Bellina explains that she expected Tiempo to stay with her at the Temple after they took their vows together and was surprised and saddened when she left and stayed gone. Chronos did feel like that was out of character for Tiempo.
The group known as AA, then ventured northwest out of the city to find the missing sailors who had been theoretically captured by Frost Giants that lived in that area. Their strange new Wizard aquaitence quickly picked up an obvious trail that led to a cave with a cold firepit sitting outside it. The group soon discovered the bones of many bodies in and around the cave, and 3 humanoid men chained inside on top of bedrolls with round bellies and appearing quite greasy and dirty. They explained to AA that one of their comrads had choked to death during their forced feeding sessions, and that the two frost giants would return at nightfall and force feed them all night. AA was able to quickly dismantle the chains and free the men, Timithy, Jimithy, and Bill. Soon the group heard Flimp sound a warning cry from outside the cave, and Uribella, Freya, and Chronos immediately ran out of the cave to meet the threat. Calista transformed into their bear form, and the strange wizard stayed back to defend the very round sailors.
Two frost gaints approached the cave, a smaller and younger female, and an older more mature looking female. The smaller one ran straight in and swiped her two mighty great axes at Uribella, rendering her unconcious immediately. Freya was able to revive her while Chronos defended them and Calista charged into the frey in their bear form. Calista was forced out of their bear form after taking a heavy hit and went on the run to make space. Freya and Irabella did their best to keep distance from the Frost Giants casting spells at them as the second one ran into the battle and Flimp used his bag of tricks to summon a giant rat and a boar which were good distractions. The larger frost giant took a mighty swing with their battle axe and rendered Chronos unconcious and then moved to target Freya while the smaller one gave chase to Calista. Calista was able to dispatch the smaller one with a spell, and Freya utilized Thunderstep to retreat closer to Chronos in an attempt to get close enough to revive them with a health potion. With another mighty swing in a fit of rage at the death of their companion, the more mature frost giant was able to knock Freya unconcious with their axe, and then killed Flimp's boar. Flimp was able to summon a giant elk from his bag of tricks to continue keeping the giant distracted. Chronos appeared to be fading and taking their final gasps as Calista shot a lightening bolt and finally both frost Giants were dead. Flimp was able to run in and revive Chronos, who was on death's door, with a health potion. While Chronos was still recovering Flimp scratched out his name on Chronos' armor and wrote "Uribella" over what previously said "Flimp" and so the back of Chronos' armour now says "Uribella was here." When Chronos came to they were able to heal Freya. After some raging at the bloody corpses Freya animated one of the now headless frost giants to carry back Jimithy and Timithy, and Flimp's giant elk carried Bill back to town.
As the citizens of Windvale were first afraid of the strange animated corpse, the sailors soon began to sing the priases of AA. They proudly exclaimed the frost giants had been defeated, that they had been saved by heros. AA returned the sailors to the temple and were gifted some healing by a Mystic there and collected a bounty of 1500 gold. The Head Mystic at the temple declared them friends of the temple and heros. When asked what the group called themselves Flimp shouted out "Animal Attack!" and so the Mystics of the temple took that to heart. Animal Attack then returned to the White Crow Inn to get a good night's rest after such an intense battle.
