Temple of Madarr

Exterior Structure

Five Spiraling towers with pointed domes tower over Windvale, these domed towers belong to the Temple of Madarr. Each dome is decorated in a bright color that seems to shimmer even on days when the clouds are gray, one of yellow, turquoise, deep blue, silver, and pink. The tallest and thinnest of these towers being the one with the smallest pointed dome, a silver roof. The majority of the building pieced together in white stone, there are accents around the windows, doors, slopes and slants of the same colors of the domes.

Iconography

This is a temple dedicated to Madarr, God of the Ocean himself, and while it is further inland than a typically temple built for him, it is not in short supply of his waters. In the main foyer of the entrance to the temple itself is a large fountain that young Priestesses and Priests refresh daily with water from the ocean. You can often see young practitioners in robes bringing in buckets and dumping them into the central fountain. The water is crystal clear and cold. The building itself is decorated and painted with depictions of the ocean, even in the stone there are reliefs of waves and water. Some renderings depict large storms, others great ocean beasts.

Services of the Temple

The temple is home to a small school where members of the collective teach any children who attend how to read, write, do simple mathematics, and teach lessons about the histories of Windvale and the gods. They also happily tutor others in languages and customs from different regions if requested in the main library. The head librarian Ezra is in charge of assigning and maintaining the schedules for classes and organizing private tutoring lessons, as well as overseeing the library's care itself.

The Temple also acts as a hospital of sorts, there is an entire tower dedicated to the teaching of healing arcane abilities, teaching students about the systems of the body and soul, teaching about healing plants and minerals, and for actual patients to be seen and cared for, including a convalescent care area where people stay short to long term to recover from illness or injury, and even sometimes to just die in peace. Collective member Valeria manages this wing and often allows outsiders to participate in classes if they request it. She believes that the gifts of healing should be shared with all.

The temple itself also functions as an arcane school where those who are interested in the arcane abilities can study and learn. These classes are open to anyone but are small and limited in size. They meet at strange hours and are led by Courtlyn.

The temple is also a place of worship for Madarr, many sea fairing peoples come to the main temple to pay their respects to him, leave him offerings, and seek his wisdom. The temple is tended by Bellina, a new full member of the collective and an enthusiastic student.

The Collective of Mystics is not a hierarchy, no one mystic has more claim to leadership than another, but in large temples structures form over time and some Mystics are seen as mothers and grandmothers, in the Temple of Madarr that leader would be Elysia, she is the eldest member in the temple, a half-elf who was gifted a long lifespan. She oversee's the Temple's day to day operations, she is who young fledgling arcane practitioners see to give their "Vow of Regard" while in Windvale.
To the land I live on and for the people I walk among, I vow to regard them with the utmost respect. I make this vow to the Collective and swear to use the gifts I've been given only to serve and protect and never to carelessly harm or maim. To the Collective this vow is binding, and should I fail my duty so shall my abilities be bound.
