The Vermintide
The Vermintide is the name of the plague illness that ravaged Elloría to begin the Sixth Age.
Transmission & Vectors
The disease was mostly transmitted through indirect contact. Those living in the sewers lived cramped lives and often shared a lot.
Causes
The true origin of this plague is still a mystery today. The Kova Vanguard who assigned the investigations concluded that it was the result of the unhealthy living conditions of the Verminfolk living in the early days of Sewer City.
Symptoms
Fatigue, body ache, muscle decay, patchy hair loss.
Treatment
Divine healing found little use, especially with few willing to get close to them in fear of contracting the contagion. Full recovery was not completely uncommon, but the mortality rate was high.
Prognosis
The earliest symptoms to show up were fatigue. By the time hair loss and muscle decay set in, death would likely soon follow.
Sequela
Nowadays, you may see folks with general body hair patchiness as a result of someone in their lineage contracting the illness- although not always carried into later generations.
Affected Groups
Many throughout Elloría contracted the contagion, but the Verminfolk were hit the most severe.
Prevention
Any Vermin seen not in their sewer home were quickly escorted to go down below- often times regardless of whether or not they truly lived down there.
Cultural Reception
With mass hysteria rampant around the lands, the Verminfolk quickly began to become the scapegoat. Granted, they were not the only one's who carried the disease. Nowadays, the disease is gone, but some of the discrimination remains.
