The Sword Coast (North)
Along the western edge of Faerûn, the seaward lands extending from the Spine of the World, south to Candlekeep, have come to be known as The Sword Coast. Centered around the great metropolis of Waterdeep, the region is dominated by features of the same name, including the Sea of Swords, and the Sword Mountains. A subarctic to temperate climate, the northernmost regions contend with fiercely harsh winters and mild summers, tempered by the vast waters of the Trackless Sea. Though boasting several large settlements including Luskan, Baldur's Gate, and the others mentioned earlier, and perhaps the most diverse distribution of sentient races throughout the continent, many consider the region to be a lawless area dominated by wilderness.
Not entirely untrue, the area is unified only by a loose allegiance of local interests, mostly led by the powerful and highly influential independent cities which also include those nearby from an area known simply as 'the North.' The area's racial diversity is also partly attributable to the many barbaric and savage cultures that also live in the region, and in some cases, have established strongholds or small empires of formidable might, becoming particularly powerful during the turmoil of the past century. These include the Many Arrow Tribe of orcs that have come forth from the Spine of the World, and have created extensive grief for the dwarven tribes of the area, and the Cragmaw goblin tribes that have been prevalent in the areas east and south of Neverwinter.
Neverwinter, a city of roughly 25,000 residents, is a city recovering from a series of catastrophe's. From a nearby volcanic eruption and chasms to the underdark opening beneath their feet, to attempted invasions by demons and agents of chaos - Neverwinter has had more than it's fair share of tribulations. But in recent years, it has sealed the inner city rifts, and forced out invaders. Former residents are returning, and great landmarks are being rebuilt, as Neverwinter once again becomes a hub of trade, knowledge, and work on the Sword Coast.
It is here that Airick, Forgrim and Roric found themselves one morning late in the Winter of 1491. Anxious to do more than just odd jobs around the city, each of them had their own reasons for wanting to leave Neverwinter. They had managed to secure a small job escorting a wagon of goods to the nearby town of Phandalin. It wasn't much, but was more than enough excuse for them to get out of the city after waiting out the winter months in drudgery. But the night before they had met a very charismatic gnome named Wick, who had overheard their conversation, and whether intentionally or not, convinced the trio to allow him (and another friend of Wick's) to assist with their endeavors. With wagonload of goods in tow, and new acquaintances to meet, here would begin the adventures of these new friends as they set out to make their mark on the world.
Geography
Western-facing, sub-arctic coast, adjacent to the vast Trackless Sea. A few minor ranges dot the region, one including the Volcano Mt. Hotenow near Neverwinter. The chain known as the 'Spine of the World' forms the northern border where the land & sea gives way to the Reghed Glacier.
To the east, the area is bordered by the Long Road between Waterdeep and Mirabar. The Sword Coast extends south past Waterdeep towards Candlekeep. The region covers an area that spans about 700 miles north-to-south, and about 200 miles, east-to-west.
Natural Resources
Precious metals, gems, leather and fine works of craftsmanship from Neverwinter and Waterdeep.

Sword Coast - North
Stretching from Waterdeep in the south to the Spine of the World in the north, and from the Sword Coast in the west to the Long Road in the east.
This is the region where this campaign begins.
Airick the Bard spent most of his youth in the city Neverwinter, mostly in the company of skilled, industrious, and story-filled dwarves, who would introduce him one day to Forgrim Edgehammer of Mithral Hall. During his education, Airick also befriended a somber elf named Roric in the northern city of Silverymoon. Once the three connected in Neverwinter, they met a very diminutive but highly charming gnome named Fenthwick, that managed to attach himself (and few other friends including a city-averse half-elf named Tahlthi, and a pet mouse named Bitty), to the newly formed group that would become known as the 'Chaos Crew.'
