Skytop Mountains

Geography

The Skytop Mountains are the home of the most famous tribe of Seren, the Valant, or “Holy Ones.” Majestic and otherworldly, the Skytop Mountains are true to their name, in that they reach the skies. The high, spire-like peaks of the Skytop Mountains and the narrow, winding pathways make the land a place of beauty and intrigue. However, the land is wrought with dangers. Many have died assuming the Skytop Mountains are but a quiet land. The Skytop Mountains are home to many native species and tribes of bipeds.
Though the area is claimed by the Seren Empire, and indeed the bottoms of the mountains are completely civilized, as one moves up the mountains, Imperial influence ends. Huge, yeti-like “wharrs” patrol the peaks of Mount Iridil and Mount Everlight. The tribes of Susa and Bargoda live on the mountains of Alzora, Katchekil, Salumis, and Valeron.
The Imperial Society of Explorers has semiannual trips to climb Mount Everlight and Mount Sarveron. To date, over 18 explorers have died, 6 from altitude sickness, 7 from wharr attacks, and 5 from “whyeria,” a disease that occurs when lungs get too cold.
