Caravel Road

The caravel road isn't a single road, but a network of trade routes that span the length and breadth of A'qadia. They crisscross the Nasrin desert, having been built in the ancient past when A'qadia was a single kingdom.   Currently, they are the main thoroughfare for trade, used by all manner of ground transportation such as wagon caravans or fast sandskiff. Even airskimmers use the caravel road as a navigational landmark to help guide them when they lose their way.

Purpose / Function

The caravel road was built in ancient times to facilitate both trade and rapid transit for military forces. After the collapse of the ancient kingdom that built it, the road remained in use to the current day.

Architecture

The caravel road was paved with using an ancient technique of cutting and polishing stone that has yet to be rediscovered. The paving stones, each five foot square, have a remarkable resistance to the abuse of weather and the environment.   Each stone looks to be made of perhaps a baked clay that is a combination of the Nasrin desert sand itself.
