Lakeside District

Lakeside is the most visible district that lies at the foot of Isendal Duran. The architecture is a mixture of styles with Geldarian stonework foundations and frames. These are topped with traditional copper-infused curved forge-baked clay tiles to form slightly domed rooftops.

Here, the building walls are less fitted stone and more light tan adobe with stout wooden pillars for frames and interior support pillars.

Materials aside, there is a similarity to the style of the architecture with its curved, fitted, stone arch doorways. Traditional Geldarian ribbed support columns at each corner of an individual building.

Rain gutters, with their carved patterns of colorful tiles that form images of interlocking ribbons tracing the route along the gutter. Due to the colder temperatures, windows are narrower than in other cities. However, the glass is often colored panels that compliment the tiles used in the rain gutters.

Breadbasket of Etrillon

This district is the agricultural center and trade entry point of Etrillon. Peat from the Snarlgrog Marsh, herbs from the upslope farmland, fish from the loch, are grown or harvested in the area.

... and an endless supply of entertaining fish stories! Of course these are told over a few rounds of Snarlgrog. The drink, not the marsh...
— Stefanos Vel-Barboza, Seskyalii skald alchemist

Often called the ‘trade quarter’, the nickname is well-earned.

Caravans arrive over the mountains or by carrier, such as cargo carried by the Dragonspire Transport Guild, arrive in the wide Dragonfields that lie on the northeast side of Lakeside near the shoreline of Loch Medge.

Aside from the farms and Dragonfields, fountains and statues that are part of the city water runoff system lead to the center of commerce for the city, the Marketfields.

The Marketfields is a wide marketplace that is located on the boundary between the Lakeside District and the Upper Halls. To be exact, it is located just outside the ancient gates that can be closed to secure the Upper Halls and interior of Etrillon under the mountain in time of attack.

However, this has rarely been needed, since the local militia or the city’s force of Watchmen have been more than enough to curb any attacks on the city. Still, the gates and other defenses are regularly maintained and tested, per the usual Geldarian efficiency. Just to ensure everything is in working order.

Kummer/C.B Ash,   I really liked this article, especially the way you describe the architecture.   The architecture is a mixture of styles with Geldarian stonework foundations and frames. These are topped with traditional copper-infused curved forge-baked clay tiles to form slightly domed rooftops.   Good Article.   Aemon

Thanks Aemon! I really felt the architecture needed to shine through, to give a suggestion as to the culture here.
