Main Plot: The Marks

After arriving in Prith each of our protagonists develops a burning red mark on their skin. Where have these marks come from? Why do they have these marks? What does this mean for them?
The marks are a circular shape although have a distinctive pattern. All of the marks are identical but appear on different parts of the body. When they arrived they caused great pain but that seems to have subsided.

Plot points/Scenes

Session 2

After meeting the half-elf wizard Adran, the party learned two things about the marks.
1 - they contain magic, and provide each of them with the ability to cast a certain spell
2 - The marks are soul shards. Soul shards were a powerful magic item, able to contain the soul of the wearer when they died, preventing their soul from leaving the material plane. Although thought to be a useful tool, it was found that once held within the shard a soul could not be retrieved. Because of this they were banned, and any that remained were destroyed. As far as anyone

Session 5

Adran informed the players that there are new marked expected to arrive. There are new marked cycles every few months - it has taken Adran a while to figure out the formula but with the help of Addison he has done it. Every cycle introduces 4 new marked, appearing in the same town.   The party also learned that the marked all dream of the new marked. They dream of
  • A changeling in a tavern
  • A man in light blue holy robes with a salmon brooch
  • An elderly lady surrounded by family
The party met each of the marked: Lei the changeling bard; Raymond a recently fired monk and Gloria, an elderly woman who died in her sleep.

Session 6

The party are able to track down the 4th marked   This is when they learn that some sort of cult is after the marked   They manage to get away with the fourth marked, but the party successfully save Lei and Raymond from kidnapping   They continue to dream of the new marked

Session 12

The party met a cultist at the faire they were attending   They manage to kill the cultists and capture one   They learn from interrogating him that they intend to feed the marked to a 'beast' - some sort of dead god   Hags look at the marks and call them the 'sign of the beast' and 'destructive'

Session 18

The party meet with Lucan who presents them with an old world artefact. Lucan has heard the theory that the new Nalbon is built upon the ruins of an old one, and this artefact, being too technologically advanced seems to be proof.   He also takes them to visit The Lost City - a city long abandoned, filled with stone people, petrified.   The party find a temple covered in the same symbol that marks their body. Being in that temple made the marks on their skin start to tingle.

Session 19

Upon translating some of the ancient texts, the party found out that their marks were the religious symbol of Morhan - a god of destruction.   Chaos bolt was a spell exclusive to clerics under Morhan   They caught wind that Raymond developed water-based magic.   The party develop the theory that each marked makes them connected to a god somehow:
  • Pothos: life
  • Dimitri: death
  • Ander: conflict
  • Raymond: possibly tempest
  New marks arrive
  • Pothos dreams of an elven druid (Hastae)
  • Lei dreams of a orcish pirate woman (Ekk)
  • Raymond dreamed of a blue tiefling (Lilith)
The cultists manage to kill Ekk and Lilith   They leave after saying 'two is enough'   The final mark is found as Simon Simons, a wizarding student

Session 21

While in the Feywild, the party's hometown of Oldden has somehow been destroyed.
