Nocticula

Nocticula (nock-TICK-you-LUH) is the goddess of Artist, Exiles, and Midnight. She is a former demon lord who, upon ascending, decided to walk toward the path of light and good.

History

Nocticula was spawned as the first succubus of the Abyss, and eventually ascending to become the demon lord of assassins and succubi. As a demon lord, Nocticula possessed the power to kill other demon lords, and their bodies would become islands in her realm, the Midnight Isles.

For centuries, Nocticula worked toward ascending to godhood, but she kept her motivations for doing so to herself, and that was to shed her demonic nature to become a more benevolent being.

Relationships

As Nocticula has only recently ascended to godhood, she is still mostly fighting demon lords, particularly  Baphomet and Socothbenot, her brother, though all of them have declared all out war against her for her betrayal of the Abyss. The only exception is the nascent demon lord Shamira, her former companion, lovers, and minion, to whom Nocticula left the care of the Midnight Isles when she ascended. Shamira has made clear she holds no ill will towards Nocticula.

Narrena has taken to helping Nocticula along her path and granted her a part of her portfolio to allow Nocticula to become the patron for artists. Selena has also taken to Nocticula as well, granting her refuge in Elysium so as to keep her under close watch. Most of the other gods of good regard her with suspicion, but ultimately trust that Selena and Narrena are taking what precautions they can.

While she was a demon lord,  Naheia and Nocticula often fought each other, however, Naheia has recognized Nocticula’s desire to change her ways and atone for her crimes, and has decided to let her be as she follows this path.

Appearance

Because she is still, technically, a demon, Nocticula was unable to shed her demonic form, however she was able to modify it to appear more fey-like than demonic. She has light purple skin, blue-violet hair, and light blue eyes. Her cloven hooves, bat-like wings and trio of stinger-tipped tails remain.

Church of Nocticula

Nocticula’s followers are primarily her worshipers from when she was a demon lord that followed her into redemption and they work to atone for the atrocities they committed in her name.

Clergy

Nocticula’s clergy is viewed as a cult rather than a church, and is primarily made up of clerics and inquisitors. Her clergy typically wear medium blue robes, ornately trimmed in silver.

Since her ascension, she has attracted a few liberators to her cause, but these number only in the dozens.

Temples and Shrines

Because Nocticula’s cult is still viewed with suspicion, she has no formal temples, though the churches of Narrena and Selena take in her worshippers and allow them to set up shrines within the halls of their temples.
