Moldoryn (Mole-door-in)
A coastal city on the Northwest coast of Emaniquora. It began as a small trading outpost and over the course of the years has become one of the largest cities in the Lorasian Empire. Though there hasn't been an official census in decades, it is thought the population may sit somewhere between 30,000-40,000 citizens. Though it is likely that there are much more than that at any given time given the high density of transient peoples - sailors, merchants, traders, etc - that only spend a short period within the city limits. As the official center of trade for the Lorasian Government, Moldoryn is what allows many, if not most, of the cities of Emaniquora to function. If Lorisen is the soul of the Empire, Moldoryn is the beating heart.
Though it's position as a center of trade in the world, it is far from prosperous. Hundreds of years of growing trade has allowed for a select few families to gain much of the wealth of the city. With the money tied up with less than a dozen households, the rest of the city has been left to survive with sheer grit and determination. This has led to an extensive network of illegal traders, gambling and drug dens, and other unsavory businesses. Most make a living off of the heavy trade coming in and out of the city as dockhands, innkeepers and workers, sex workers, gambling, barkeeps, rental property owners, and traders. There are very few paved streets in Moldoryn. The only neighborhood that has a semblance of upkeep is home to the upper eschelon and is aptly named "The Shimmering Stones" for the clean, mud-free streets here, though this is often shortened to "Shim'rin" by native Moldoryns.
The climate is singularily unique in Emaniquora. Much of the year it is temperate, with temperatures never reaching higher than 70 degrees and never lower than 30. The summer is what sets the city apart, however, as there are frequent storms that blow off of the Osomere Ocean. Though some storms have lasted weeks, it is often the shortest storms that are the most violent and deadly. They often roll in with little warning, catching ships and folks off-guard. Lightning strikes have set whole neighborhoods alight. Because of this, there is a certain "patchwork" quality of craftsmanship to the buildings of the city.
The majority of the city's religious folk worship the deity Gozreh. The places of worship can be marked by the plethora of various windchimes on the exterior. Those faithful to Gozreh always have at least one windchime affixed to the outside of their household.
