Brighid Flannabhra
Presidress Brighid Flannabhra
Brighid Flannabhra is the only human female head of state in all of Emicara. She was born to a mining family in the town of Fairmont, only a stone's throw away from the center of power in Dahlonega. She chose to forsake the mining traditions of her family and instead joined with the Army of the Union, gaining an education and showing an aptitude for combat and training. Her aptitude turned to fame and success when her regiment was sent to forestall a major orc raid against Spence in 1028. During the battle she singlehandedly slew over three dozen orcs and saved the regimental banner from being captured. Her efforts turned the tide of the fight, and the Mersan people were regaled by her tale of heroism.
Having been proclaimed a hero, her political rise was meteoric. Brighid left the regiment in 1030, to run for Daleman of Fairmont. She was successful and became an outspoken voice for miners in the Dale. She was considered for the short list of possible Presider candidates in 1036, and chose to run. While facing off against a variety of political opponents with a longer history in the Dale, Brighid had won popularity both among the lowland Jorgans for her military experience, and among Mersans for her mining background. She won a majority of the vote, and not merely a plurality, promising to increase border security, and protections for miners.
As Presidress, Brighid has demonstrated her worth for the past four years, and she has shown herself to be a able politician as well as a competent soldier. She has encouraged the Dale's efforts to expand the bastion at Ranger, while personally going out and recruiting new volunteers for the regiments. She has been a regular presence in many outlying cities, and has proven to be extremely popularity, and some hope that if a war breaks out, she will be at the nation's helm.
