Human

Humans are the majority race throughout all of Emicara. All major kingdoms and nations are ruled by humans, except for the glaring exception of the Kingdom of Populres. Human cultures and traditions vary nation to nation, and even sometimes from city to city. Humans are divided into a number of languages and ethnicity, scattered throughout the world.

Any other information relating to attribute improvement should be ignored.

Civilization and Culture

Major Language Groups and Dialects

Humans speak all languages, but Common spread across the world as a consequence of the conquests of Jakonia. All human nations tend to have their own dialects of common or even their own independent languages. The Sypi Confederacy itself has as many languages as it has tribes, and even Jakonia at its height had nearly a dozen different languages spoken within its borders.

History

After elves, humans are the oldest known race in the world as a whole. Long ago, humans sent the old elven empires crashing down around the world, and in time they began building a true civilization of their own. Humans spread to every corner of the world, building nations and waging wars upon each other and the remaining elves and other races. They were so successful that most other races were consigned to myth and legend, exterminated by years of warfare and technological reform. The humans drove technology and civilization to new heights, far beyond that of what even the elves could have imagined at their peak. The Nameless Empire was the greatest of these, unifying the entire continent and many lands beyond the seas, even realms that are nearly mythical today. They were unmatched, a superpower which could not be met by any other human nation.   Then, the rivals of the Nameless Empire engaged it in one last war, for control of the entirety of the world just over one thousand years ago. Battles were fought on a scale scarcely imagined by the forces of today, involving armies of millions. Great and powerful technology and magic were wielded against the Nameless Empire and its enemies. In the space of a mere day, the Nameless Empire was destroyed, in addition to over 99% of its population, leaving only the haunted remains of its constructions and infrastructure. The scattered survivors and people that remained spent nearly two centuries rebuilding and recovering what was lost, until eventually the foundations of today's modern nations were formed.   It is unknown if human civilization still exists beyond the boundaries of Emicara. Based on the encounters with races like the serpentines, half-giants, sunborn, lizardfolk, and catfolk, it seems much of the world has been overrun by strange creatures unlike those ever heard of previously. The return of species thought long extinct further threatened the rebirth of civilization, and humanity has struggled with its new place in the world. The collapse of the Jakonian Empire has caused many to wonder if perhaps the Age of Man is coming to a more definite end.
