Callum Maddox
Chief Callum Maddox
Callum Maddox is the aging chief of the Mineter tribe. As a child he was an avid student of woodcraft and combat, eagerly watching all of the fights that would take place in the tribe's arena. He enjoyed watching the repair of the armor and talking with the gladiators who would come from tribes across the Confederacy to show their mettle. As he grew into an adult, he even participated in a few nonlethal bouts, gaining some respect, but clearly not made of the same cloth as the heavier contenders. He still assisted at the arena, which became a passion of his in young adulthood.
He assumed power over his tribe in 990, and has been ruling for over fifty years since, having outlived all of his sons and daughters, leaving only grandchildren behind. He has been a just, if unassuming ruler, who continues to maintain arena fights out of tradition. He was too old to fight in the Sypi Civil War, and his grandson led the charge against the Sihka, after he had pledged his support to the Bienombes. Unfortunately, his grandchildren proved headstrong and unwise in combat, and the Mineters experienced heavy casualties in the battles that came. Since the end of the war, Callum has been desperately trying to bring back some prosperity and peace to his people.
