Dymas Ramas

Count Dymas Ramas

Dymas Ramas never assumed that he would become leader of one of the wealthiest noble houses in Alsona when he was growing into adulthood. Born after three sisters, he was never believed to eventually inherit the reins of the family. As a child, he was typically ignored and liked it that way, spending most of his time in books and reading, and not ever really fitting in among other children his age. His tutors said he was quietly brilliant, and it was from these assessments that Dymas' mother sent him away to the University of Pegrama when he reached adulthood, enrolling him in the College of Mathematics.    In Pegrama, Dymas excelled. Through mathematics he met others with the same interests and ideals, and he proved an adept scholar of the field. He proved an able engineer and architect, and soared to the top of his classes, and nearly forgot about his family back home, only returning for his eldest sister's funeral after she died in childbirth. He returned to his studies and even became a teacher in engineering, climbing to the top of the most respected in his field in the College. He married the Ploiarchos of the College of Arts, in a surprising match and a well attended ceremony. The two settled in Pegrama for a life of academia, having three children of their own.    The outbreak of the Wingo War changed things, and the pouring of elves and dwarves into the Patridaxos led to confusion, and the death of Dymas' wife and eldest child in one of the raids. Mourning, he left his post at the University and returned home, to find that his second eldest sister had also been killed by elf raiders in the nearby woods and his final sister had been slain in the Second Battle of Wingo Mine. With no other children, he was by default the only remaining heir to the title of the head of House Ramas. Thankfully his mother was still alive and the reigning Countess, and she helped him mourn while managing the affairs of state.   As a means of easing him into his responsibilities, Dymas was assigned the role of house accountant, and his mother gave him full reign over the family finances, which were in extremely poor condition. After decades of mismanagement and a loss of profitability in the family's enterprises, House Ramas was close to bankruptcy. Dymas threw himself into this work, and proved an extraordinary administrator. He was able to turn losses into profits, and was the first to recognize the opportunities in a lost war. When the war ended, he exploited the tensions with Valtkos Wingo, and made the lumber mills of House Ramas into one of the most profitable enterprises in Alsona.    Dymas has since taken over the family, and as one of the few male rulers in Alsona, continues to outmaneuver those who would seek to supplant his family's place. Using the family's new massive wealth, he has preserved their status, and even elevated it from where it was before the war.
