Enzo Val
Crowned Mayor Enzo Val
Enzo Val was born into a working class family in Augustin, working as laborers down at the docks. He saw nothing in his life ahead of him except being a laborer, so when he turned fourteen, he went to sea. Stowing away on a merchant vessel, he soon found himself rising through the ranks of the crew, particularly after a devastating attack by Bahami pirates. Returning to his home five years later, he was a changed man, with money in his pockets from his share of the bounty on the defeated pirates and other adventures. Rather than squandering his funds on wine and women, like most sailors, he instead went to his family and invested the funds in a smithy on the Augustin docks. Using connections with his sailor friends, they soon found some exclusive deals with captains in town for repair and parts manufacture.
Enzo soon took up blacksmithing alongside his family members, and by 1020, the Val Smithing Company was the third largest in the Free City of Augustin. He proved popular among the people, and he was encouraged to enter into Augustinian politics. He was able to buy his way onto the Free City Council, and became an outspoken advocated for the rights of the working man in Augustin, calling for labor reform and more support for dockworkers. With each law he passed, he grew more and more popular, despite his youth. In 1040, he was encouraged to run for the office of Crowned Mayor. He won in a landslide, although some claim that he has been propped up as a front man to keep the masses happy. He has yet to have time to demonstrate whether or not this is true, and all eyes in Augustin are upon him.
