Esan Bhommam

Mayor Esan Bhommam

Esan Bhommam is the scion of the Cross Bhommams, the wealthiest of the fishing families in the town. Having traced their origins back to the founding of the town itself, the Bhommams have always lived in the area even when it was under the threat of destruction or siege by the enemies of Recfrere. He was educated by the finest tutors that could be found in the kingdom, all brought in at the family's expense. He proved a dutiful son and servant, laboring for the family as soon as he was deemed of age to supervise the fishing operations the family dominates.   Esan was not happy dealing with fish and their entrails, and so spent much of his life delegating his tasks to paid employees, and instead has become a well known patron of the arts in Cross, paying for sculptures and murals alike to decorate the town's streets. He spends much of his time hosting galas for the upper class members of both and Moultrie, and frequently travels to the larger city for parties and mingling with others of his class. He was ultimately pulled from his reveries with the death of the mayor of Cross in 1034.    Seeking to find a line of work that did not have to deal with the smells and tastes of fishing, Esan saw an opportunity to expand his family's wealth and influence. Having built strong ties with the heirs of other houses and some love from the masses through his charitable donations, he fought off several competitors for the position of mayor. His election was not certain, but he triumphed with more votes than any other contender. After being elected, he has continued to fight for the influence of the wealthy over the town's affairs, and has actively sought to forbid dwarven immigration in order to preserve the old status quo that led to his family's greatness.
