Gadi Madjer

Mukarrib Gadi Madjer

Gadi Madjer is the current mukarrib of Freeport in the Bahami Federation. As a child, he was raised upon the ships and trading vessels of the city and its subjects. He spent many hours both upon corsair craft and traders, learning the art of sailing from some of the most experienced on the island. Despite his noble birth and his father's position as mukarrib, he was treated the same as any other sailor and worked his way up the ranks from cabin boy to an officer by the time he was twenty-six. He may well have been able to become a captain, but the death of his father led to his taking up the mantle of mukarrib.    Gadi was changed when he became mukarrib, conferring for the first time ever with Kaishos, djinn of Freeport. The djinn blessed him in several ways, but began demanding even more from him in the terms of tribute. The mukarrib still remained true to the principles of his father by encouraging trade rather than by escalating the amount of corsair raids upon shipping. He has since encouraged more merchants to arrive and taken some punitive measures of treatment away from travelers, provided they can prove they are not local residents or Jakonians. These have been combined with a rise in docking fees and other taxes that are used to support Kaishos' lust for gold. Gadi seems determined to avoid war and conflict with other Bahamis and the mainland.
