Gerald Strout

Lord Gerald Strout

Gerald Strout was one of the greatest fighters ever produced by the Kingdom of Bamard. He served in the armies of Bamard during the time of Jakonian rule. As a warrior with a confirmed three hundred kills in battle, he was a monument to all others who served alongside him, inspiring them to greater victories. He constantly refused promotion and retirement, insisting that he would remain in the front line until his dying day. He served in the Battle of Conecuh Lake and was one of the few Jakonian soldiers to survive the conflict, escaping near the climax of the battle simply by wading through Shin soldiers. He single-handedly slew a Shin noble, smashing through his enemy's armor and avoiding his deadly weapons, a feat nearly unheard of among those who have fought the Shin.   After the Battle of Conecuh Lake, Gerald Strout became an outspoken advocate for Bamardian independence from the Jakonian Empire, eliminating the installed aristocracy. He rallied a significant amount of Bamardian politicians and warriors to his support, eventually forming the core of the revolutionary force that would depose the nobles. He continued to serve in the militia of his homeland, and fought in multiple smaller conflicts against raiders from the Badlands and the Sypi Confederacy. Eventually he proved too difficult to kill, and died of old age, stating on his death bed, "If I'm going to die, I guess I'll have to do it myself." His children have continued to be major players in Bamardian politics and the military, and his house has spread throughout the region.
