Jesse Huskinson

General Jesse Huskinson

Jesse Huskinson was born with the military in his blood. His father was a career soldier, as was his father and father before him, with each serving as officers within the Jakonian Imperial Army, dating back believed to be to the very foundation of the empire. Therefore it was little shock when as a child Jesse was obsessed with all things relating to the military and army. He sought adventure and combat every turn, being born in the Free City of Capcora. He received a generous education provided for by his father's pension and connections within the Jakonian Imperial Army. He received a commission and joined the regiments at a lieutenant's rank.   Unfortunately for Jesse's dreams of glory, the Jakonian Empire following the Great Northern Rebellion entered a time of unprecedented peace. With the borders of the empire peaceful, Jesse rose through the ranks very slowly, with few battles to prove himself in, forced to instead engage in minor skirmishes across the Villages and on the border of the Glades with bandits and raiders. His first real foray into combat was during the abortive Mims Uprising in 966 AF, against rebel forces. They were disorganized and poorly armed, but Jesse was able to turn this meager victory into enough of a boost for his career to finally make captain.   As a captain, Jesse was able to get more independent assignments and accelerated his rise through the ranks. He finally gained control of his own Regiment in 977 as a colonel. After gaining control of a regiment, he found little opportunities for advancement from there. Higher echelons were filled with born nobility and aristocracy, while independent actions by Regiments against possible enemies were strictly forbidden by the Emperor. He focused instead on his own conquests, marrying a minor aristocrat and beginning a family in the Imperial City. His next opportunity for advancement would come in a strange manner.    In 989 AF, the city of Capcora purchased its independence from the Jakonian Empire. As the highest ranking Capcoran in the Jakonian Imperial Army, Jesse was approached by the Lord Mayor with an offer to head up one of the newly constituted Capcoran Regiments for the defense of the city. Although the position of General was taken by a hired mercenary, Jesse eagerly accepted, transitioning from being a simple colonel in a vast force to one of the most experienced officers in a significantly smaller army. He took command of one of the three Capcoran regiments and oversaw the creation of a unified force of arms, being granted more money and funding than he had ever had under the Empire.   In 1004, the death of the previous General of the Capcoran Regiments left the position vacant and Jesse was promoted to the position, placing him in the highest military post in the young nation. Lauded with medals and glory for the various skirmishes the Free City became involved in, he finally found the glory and wealth his family had never had under the Empire. He became a highly public figure, respected for his achievements and position in the upper castes of society. With multiple children and grandchildren, he settled down to a new life of quasi-retirement, while retaining his post.   Everything changed with the Warp of Seven. Having been in the city of Capcora at the time of the Warp, he experienced the events within, and was profoundly changed. Upon the conclusion of the warp, he was physically nearly fifty years younger, full of vigor and vitality. Despite this boon, he lost his family, and while he recollects them, very few others do within Capcora itself. He has since regained some of his youthful ambition, seeking to whip the Regiments into shape and revitalize the city militarily, taking an active role in supporting those who had been affected by the Warp.
