Lord Kosxik Karchar

Kosxik Karchar is the respected lord and leader of House Karchar, one of the seven ruling aristocratic houses of the Kingdom of Populres. Unlike others in his family, instead of having to labor intensively to gain magical powers, he was born with the gifts of sorcery. His parents thus bestowed upon him further education how to wield his gifts, but he had already eliminated his first rival in a magical duel by the age of twelve. Kosxik's rise through the ranks of the house was meteoric, crushing any dissent or possible enemy who could challenge him for power. His innate gifts were honed by his training, making him one of the most feared casters in the whole of the nation.
Kosxik worked hard to gain the respect and admiration of the rank and file of House Karchar, even among the orcs and dragonkin. When the Third War with Recfrere broke out in 1003, Kosxik was prepared to lead the armies of the house into battle. He decried the current lord of the house as a coward, and with little choice in the matter, the Lord engaged in a duel with Kosxik, knowing full well he was at a disadvantage. The powers wielded by Kosxik allowed him to transmute the former lord of the house into a marble statue, and with this victory, he assumed the mantle of Lord. 
As Lord of House Karchar, Kosxik led the armies of the house into battle against the forces of Recfrere. Several successful raids were launched deep into the heart of the enemy kingdom, earning greater glory for the Populresi people. Unfortunately, the early wartime successes of House Karchar did not translate well into a war of attrition. The forces of the other houses were distracted by increased undead activity along the northern border, and the full strength of Populres could not be brought to bear against the seemingly numerous human armies. Karchar was constantly on the defensive, barely maintaining the river front on the Peedee, with little support coming from the other houses. 
When the war finally ended in 1012, Kosxik was somewhat discredited among the house due to the heavy losses suffered. The support he had once won among the lower castes had evaporated with the high casualty lists. Instead, he was forced to turn back to his own people among the demonkin who feared rather than respected him. He began a witch hunt against those who he blamed for the failure of victories in the war. Many within his own house were executed for the slightest whiff of anything other than total support. Attempts to challenge him for leadership ended poorly, and Kosxik's collection of duel trophies grew.
Today, Kosxik is paranoid of attempts of other houses to undermine his authority, and he has inflicted draconian measures to prevent the rise of dissent within and without the House itself.
