Michael Jacobo
King Michael Jacobo
Michael Jacobo was born to the first king of Forard since the kingdom gained its independence from the Jakonian Empire. As a child, he was one of several of the kingdom, and the third born of the king. The first king lived for far longer than most would have expected, leading to numerous rumors about the royal family being afflicted with vampirism or lycanthropy. These were always unjust rumors, and the monarchy were just blessed with long lives, although family history has revealed some elven ancestors from the days of the empire. As a child, Michael was solid in his education, but mediocre in all fields of knowledge.
Michael lived a fairly undistinguished life in the noble court of Forard, only reluctantly attending formal functions and events when required of himself. He married a similarly lackadaisical woman from the Department of Rural Infrastructure, and both sought only to avoid any significant work or labor in the government. None truly expected Michael to ultimately ascend to the Forardi throne. Yet, he did, as he simply outlived his siblings, some dying in war, others dying in accidents or simply of old age, failing to outlive their father. Michael was simply the last scion alive when the old king passed.
As king, Michael Jacobo has continued a hands off approach to governance, allowing the Departments to manage themselves, rarely stepping in to settle affairs. The anthem of his administration has been to sort things out without disturbing his rests. As he has aged, his elder status has helped give some legitimacy to this approach, as people hesitate to disturb him except on the most pressing issues. When a debate emerges in the Committee, he will usually side with the Department of Rural Infrastructure, allowing that department to recently gain some notice and assistance in their efforts to develop the countryside.
