Nhahnin Ceka
Mayor Nhahnin Ceka
Nhahnin Ceka was born in a small hamlet in the northern Caro Highlands, near the foothills of the Apps Mountains. The village in which he lived had less than a few dozen people at any given time, mostly relying upon a few small farms to provide goods, and frequently traveling into nearby Endroad for any other purchases. As a child, he quickly became enamored with travel and exploration, and found himself constantly exploring the outskirts of the village and looking for adventure. When he was just thirteen, he stumbled across an old ruin of the Nameless Empire that had been unexplored by any adventurers or otherwise. With a handful of other youths from the village, they decided to delve in search of treasure. Only Nhahnin left alive.
After the failed exploration, abominable creatures were released from the tomb of the old ruins and the village was destroyed, and Nhahnin and a handful of others escaped to Endroad. A party of adventurers arrived and found the source of the ruins and the creatures within, and destroyed it. Nhahnin, unable to return home with the massive burden of guilt upon his head, joined up as a scout and companion of the adventuring party. In time he learned greater skills and abilities, becoming a skilled combatant in his own right, trained in martial skills and combat. Earning his keep in the party, he eventually chose to retire after traveling across much of Emicara, settling in the town of Wesaweald.
Ceka spent much of his accumulated wealth from adventuring into building a new home and investing in shops around Wesaweald, quietly settling into a new sedentary life with his halfling wife. The two became well known throughout the community, helping people when needed, and he even had an extra adventure or two in providing people with support against local bandits. Although these actions as a vigilante endeared him to the public, he began constantly running afoul of the local Sheriff and law enforcement. His popularity with the people and constant sparring with the Sheriff made him an obvious choice for mayor for the town's elites. When the previous mayor died, Nhahnin was elected in a landslide in 1027, with the love of the lower classes and the money of the upper classes.
As mayor, Nhahnin has proven popular, but in recent years, there have been claims of rising senility and absentee voting, as his age has begun to catch up with him. The death of Nhahnin's wife in 1036 and lack of children have given some concern to his stability, but the prcoess of governance continues without him as the bureaucracy churns onward.
