Panagiota Tassakou
Panagiota Tassakou was born in the Alsonan mining town of Teva, and it is said she was born with a miner's pick in her hands. Both of her parents worked in the mines for the Apps Mining Company when she was born, and as soon as she was old enough to work, Panagiota did too, having a fascination with special rocks and stones equal to that of a dwarf. She had numerous friends as a child, and despite her fascination with the ground, this didn't keep her from being active among the community and a popular sight among the miners each time they rose from the depths. She offered refreshments and water for sale to the miners, along with her friends, and was even subsidized by the company for her efforts.
As soon as she became working age, Panagiota went to work inthe mines herself. She proved to have a sixth sense about finding veins of rare minerals and ores, helping to bring greater wealth to the surface. Her easy going nature made her a pleasure to work with, and while she was unpopular with local management who were jealous of her success among the crews, her abilities meant that she would rise quickly through the ranks of the Apps Mining Company. Even as she rose up through the ranks, she retained her popularity, mostly due to her insistence on working at least one shift a week in a mine, regardless of her position in the company. This helped her keep in touch with the majority of miners and kept an impression that she was one of them, regularly putting in greater output even as she would end up in an office time and again.
The outbreak of the Wingo War changed things for Panagiota, as members of the higher ranks of the Company were often nobles and called upon to lead their houses' levies in the early stages of the conflict. A series of brutal defeats for the Alsonans led to the decimation of the leadership of the company, and Panagiota's rapid elevation through management. In 1021, with no leaders left, Panagiota's rise through the ranks was hastened, and brought about from a vote among the workers and miners of the corporation. This unprecedented approach led to the company gaining more influence from the working class than it ever had before, while the shareholders rubber stamped the workers' decision.
After becoming the chief executive of the Apps Mining Company, Panagiota was quick to adjust to the realities of the war. She helped provide the kingdom with the material goods and resources it needed to achieve victory in the conflict and was even awarded commendations from the Queen herself for helping with the war effort. Her patriotism was lauded by the public and helped the company supplant the Crysos Mining Company and regain lost ground in ownership, particularly considering their failure launched the Wingo rebellion in the first place. Following the war, she continued the path of patriotism, with her husband, they have had three children, who have recently reached adulthood and seem to be eager to live up to the rags and riches story of their mother.
