Romain Aucoin
King Romain Aucoin
Romain Aucoin was born as the only child of the King of Losana, a prince with a kingly destiny. He received ample training in the military arts, and was viewed as a skilled master of the sword even as a teenager. Unfortunately, his training was not truly complete when he was thrust into the kingship. His father was slain during an insurgent attack outside of Baton in 1030 AF, when his father was leading an expedition against a particularly troublesome cadre. Romain was quickly elevated to the throne to take his father's place.
Since becoming king, Romain has struggled to maintain the delicate balance of power between nobles and the populace. He has been known to allow various local nobles and the Church of the One Sun off the leash quite frequently, particularly when dealing with Voudounist rebels. Most of his reign so far has been marked by a determined yet surprisingly fruitless search for a wife to produce a heir for the struggling monarchy. He has allowed most of the apparatus of state to continue without much intervention, and more and more power has been granted to regional aristocrats.
