Langden Mire
A fen located on the southern coast of the continent within the Conflict Zone.
History
One hundred years ago, Langden was a prosperous town in the region. To the east, the Astrapia River meandered through fertile farmland. To the south, the silver mine brought riches, and the Coast Road brought travelers and trade. All of this was swept away when a great storm rolled in from the sea, flooding the plain and silting the estuary. When those who had fled from the storm returned, they found the farmland flooded and towns destroyed. The river changed course and the fertile farmland turned to fen. Attempts were made to tame the fen - a wooden causeway was constructed to rebuild the Coast Road, but it quickly sank. Over time the wild things came: the Bullywugs, the Stirges, and the Mire Orchids. Nowadays the mire is shrouded in fog and mystery, and sensible folk avoid it.
