Anatomy

Subek are crocodile-headed humanoids that dwell along the banks of great rivers. They possess muscular physiques, surprisingly dexterous hands, and a frightening maw of sharp teeth. They stand at roughly 6-8 feet tall, average 220-370 lb., and can live up to 90 years. They have a reptilian layer of scales that cover their bodies and a large snout that conceals rows of dangerously sharp teeth. Their scales can be dark tan, dark green, grey, pale yellow, blue or jet black colors, while their eye colors can be green, yellow, or hazel. Their scales are very thick, and can block even a blade if the blade is not fully sharpened. Their hands and feet are also outfitted with sharp claws. They do not have any hair, no matter their gender, and have scale-covered tails, which can be a foot long or more.

Subek are a rare species related to lizardfolk, and are frequently mistaken for overly-muscular lizardfolk with their thick tails and reptilian appearance. They cite numerous obvious differences, namely their tough bodies, long snouts, and stronger tails.

Naming Traditions

In their native language, beast common, they have a hissing, reptilian way of speaking that is reminiscent of their animal namesakes. As such they tend toward names that contain strong S, T, K, SH and Z sounds.
